Norcross, GA - 4/29/2007 - Norcross Extends Winning Streak - Norcross Lashes Loganville 21-6 after falling behind 6 - 0 in the first inning, the early napping Norcross Blue Devils woke up with another offensive outburst in the second inning of this weekend’s final 3 game home stand against the Loganville Red Devils.
Reminiscent of Friday’s experience being down early against the North Gwinnett team, the potent Norcross bats scored a team record 14 runs in the second inning. This time the Blue Devils tacked on another 7 in the third inning before “ballgame” was called for the second run rule victory of the weekend.
In what must be confusing to the opposing teams, Norcross again demonstrated no “bottom of the batting order” as the Blue Devils pounded out 20 hits for the second time this season including sending 18 batters to the plate in the 2nd inning and scoring 14 runs. Three Blue Devil pitchers combined to allow only 4 hits for the Red Devils. After falling behind 6-0 after the 1st inning, Norcross rallied from behind with their big 2nd inning. For the Red Devils it was their 11th consecutive defeat of the season and for the Blue Devils it was
 their 5th consecutive win. Every player from Norcross recorded a hit and a run scored in the game. Three Blue Devils led the way with 3 hits and were rewarded with player of the game honors:
Drew Aspinwall - 3 for 3, 4 RBI's, 2 Runs
Brendan Furry - 3 for 3, 4 RBI's, 2 Runs
Andrew Thunhorst - 3 for 3, RBI, 3 Runs
Brendan Fury, batting twice in the second inning, brought the fans to their feet with a long drive double to the warning track, driving in 2 of his 4 runs for the day.
Chris McNulty made is first start of the year and the Blue Devils got a solid relief appearance from Jacob Gassert. The game ended with Zach Walch coming on the mound in the closer role, shutting down the Red Devils with no runs allowed, to seal the win for Norcross.
Not lost in all the scoring excitement was another error free game in what counted for a second weekend sweep for the streaking Blue Devils. Norcross travels to Buford for a 7pm start this Tuesday night and is back home Thursday to face them again at 7:45pm. Both games this week are rescheduled April rain games.
