Norcross Pelts the Wolves 14 - 2 -
Under thundering skies, Norcross
resumed the rain out make up game
where left off with bases loaded in
the bottom of the first inning. The
Blue Devils went 3 up and 3 down and
had to start fresh with no score in
the 2nd.
It would be a defensive contest for
the next 2 innings. Zach Walch,
playing center field, put the Buford
Wolves on notice by throwing out the
lead runner at 2nd base at the start
of the 2nd inning. Chris McNulty
kept the lid on in the 3rd inning,
making a leaping grab of a fly ball
at first base. McNulty, returning to
the catcher position in the 4th,
gunned down the initial base runner
of the inning attempting an ill
advised try to steal 2nd base on one
of the strongest arms in the league.
Going into the 3rd, the team was
down 2 - 1, and in a hint of what
was to come, the Blue Devils Mike
Olson, Chris McNulty, and Andrew
Thunhorst ripped 3 consecutive
doubles as Norcross scored 2 runs to
take the lead 3 - 2.
In what is becoming a Blue Devil
trademark, Norcross bats came alive
in the 4th with every player in the
lineup reaching base and crossing
home plate for the second 11 run
inning of the season. Spurred on by
not one but two taunting brothers in
the stands, Jesse Vaughan crushed a
Buford pitch for a walk off triple
and the now familiar “ball game” run
rule call by the man in blue.
The Blue Devils travel Friday night
to Lawrenceville for an 8PM start at
Rhodes Jordan Park.
